What is Yoga?
The word yoga means unity. Yoga is a practice of peace that strives to teach people to unite with
themselves by balancing their mind, body and spirit. Yoga is not a religion and can be practiced
by anyone of any faith or no faith at all! Hatha Yoga, physical yoga, is the most commonly
practiced yoga in America.

What is a typical hatha yoga class like?
A typical hatha yoga class (yoga exercise class) lasts from 50-90 minutes and is practiced in a
spacious room with students and an instructor. Students wear T-shirts and shorts/workout pants
or leotards and have bare feet. Yoga poses can be safely performed on a yoga mat or padded
rug on hardwood floors and on a blanket or beach towel on a carpeted floor. Students are
instructed to breathe in and out of their nose and from deep in the abdomen. Yoga class sessions
also involve meditation and often end with a guided meditation to further help you to relax.

How often should I go to yoga class?
Ideally, at least 2 to 3 times per week. Some people need more, some need less. It really
depends on the individual.

What is Bellydance?
Bellydance is an ancient dance form that dates back at least 6,000 years. Bellydance was
practiced by women in many cultures to prepare women for menstration, marriage, child bearing
and for general community celebrations. Bellydance connects women to the feminine side of
nature and allows them to honor their ancient foremothers and themselves. Bellydance is for all
women, regardless of size or age! It helps to build physical strength, self esteem, coordination,
creativity and feminity! It helps them to tone muscles, increase flexibility, alleviate monthly cramps
and minor depression. Bellydance can also improve a woman's self-esteem, self asseptance,
cardiocasular system & circulation. Bellydance helps women to express grace, creativity and
feminity. No previous dance experience is required. All women are invited to participate!

What do I wear to a bellydance class?
Full skirt or loose pants, hip scarf with fringe, short top, sports bra or leotard or just wear something
comfortable.
You will be dancing without shoes.
